North Branch Land Trust (NBLT) is excited to announce that it is partnering with the new Northeast Pennsylvania Chapter of Get Your Tail on the Trail and offering a hike around Crystal Lake Reservoir in Pinchot State Forest (off Laurel Run Road in Wilkes-Barre). The date is Saturday, February 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Get Your Tail on the Trail is a free community initiative created by St. Luke’s University Health Network and Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (D&L) to encourage healthy lifestyles by getting outside at nearby parks and trails. The Northeast Pennsylvania Chapter is the very first Chapter of this award winning program and covers Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, and Wayne Counties.
NBLT volunteer hike leaders Paula Fall and Brian Gettig will take the group on a four-mile trek around the lake. The hike will showcase accessibility improvements in the state forest.
This hike is rated as easy to moderate. Hikers are expected to be able to traverse roots, rocks, puddles, swampy sections, and hike a moderate incline. Sturdy waterproof boots and winter gear are recommended. Please arrive 15 minutes early; the hike begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. The hike will be cancelled if there is inclement weather.
There is no fee for this event, however, registration is required by 5 p.m., Thursday, February 7, and the participation limit is 40 attendees. Please leave your four-legged friends at home.
